Alien Romulus director confirms shocking truth behind “mystery baby daddy”
20th Century StudiosAlien: Romulus director Fede Álvarez has answered a burning question about his movie on Reddit, and fans of the franchise are shook.
Alien: Romulus is in cinemas now, and we loved the movie, calling it “the first film in years to once again capture the magic of the original Alien movies” in the Dexerto review.
Álvarez has been busy promoting the film, while also speaking about the future of the franchise, even teasing an Alien vs Predator movie that he’d co-direct with Prey helmer Dan Trachtenberg.
He’s also been banned from Reddit for impersonating himself, but while on that same website, Álvarez addressed an issue at the heart of Alien: Romulus.
Who is the mother of Kay’s baby in Alien Romulus?
The mother of Kay’s baby in Alien: Romulus is Bjorn, who also happens to be her cousin.
This fact is implied and heavily hinted at in the movie, but Álvarez confirmed the baby daddy information in response to a fan question.
In an Alien: Romulus spoiler discussion, one Redditor wrote: “Before Bjorn’s death, he and Kay share a moment where they touch each other in a very intimate way. Am I the only one who thought this was a sign that Bjorn is the ‘jerk’ who got her pregnant?”
Álvarez responded with: “Yes he is. Good catch!”
Their familial bond – meaning the baby is a result of incest – triggered much chatter on the same thread.
“I think it’s just another level of horror as an incestuous pregnancy. So we don’t feel so bad for it becoming the hybrid later,” was one response.
Another Redditor wrote: “Bjorn made a bad situation worse. When he died, I literally could be heard going, HA!”
While a third added: “It’s foreshadowing to the f**ked up child. Whether it’s from your cousin or an alien, that sh*t is f**ked.”
