After The Terror, watch this “shocking” Netflix crime drama with perfect Rotten Tomatoes score

All any Netflix user can talk about at the moment is The Terror – but what if there’s a “shocking” drama that’s perfectly rated on Rotten Tomatoes to watch after? Enter Dark Winds.

We get it… it feels as though there’s nothing on Netflix worth watching unless it’s The Terror. Bursting onto the streaming service to a second round of success, the naval ship voyage gone wrong has one of the most brutal death scenes you’ll see on the platform.

However, the new TV show isn’t the be-all and end-all, and fans are already looking around for what to watch next. Some have found the perfect pairing in neo-western Dark Winds, which has a flawless 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The series follows two Navajo police officers who try to uncover the secrets of a double homicide… all while battling their own personal demons behind closed doors.

“Watching The Terror and Dark Winds on Netflix,” one user commented on X/Twitter, with a second weighing in “S1 & 2 of one of my fave American crime series, Dark Winds, is now on Netflix. Have loved the Hillerman novels since I was a teen, and this series is a worthy adaptation IMO.”

“I know most are disappointed by the Netflix top 10 right now but let me say that Dark Winds DESERVES that spot. Zahn McClarnon, Kiowa Gordon, and Jessica Matten are stellar!!! Please everyone give it a watch, it is so damn good,” a third added.

With Jessica Matten and Zahn McClarnon in leading roles, critics are on the same wavelength as fans about just how good Dark Winds is.

Both Season 1 and 2 have separate 100% Rotten Tomatoes scores, with Graeme Virtue at The Guardian dubbing the show “a murder mystery that begs to be binged.”

James Walton at The Spectator agreed “Needless to say, it’s not unusual for a TV drama to promise to show us a world generally ignored by television. What’s much rarer is when, as in Dark Winds, that promise is grippingly fulfilled.”

If you do end up hooked on the binge-worthy TV show, there’s good news in store. Season 3 will be coming to screens in 2025, meaning you’ll have caught up in just enough time to settle into some new action.

As for when Dark Winds Season 3 will be on Netflix… that’s as much of a mystery as the plot. You’ll be able to catch it on AMC+ beforehand.
